92 fox : wont start. electrical issue. anyone?
Ok, i have a 92 5.0. Originally was a 5.0L auto car. Has a 5.0 + t5 from a 88 in it.
When i go to start it, the fuel pump doesnt engage when the key's in the "on" position. But when you go to crank it, the fuel pump will engage. I know this because if you turn the key to just before it cranks the starter, the relay clicks on, and it does the 3sec prime pulse.
Now, i know the column/lock cylinder isnt the problem, i tried replacing it
I know the pump is good because i can jumper it at the relay and it pumps fine
I know the relay under the seat is good, i replaced it with a new one thinking that was the problem
I know the computer is fine because it does the 3-sec pulse when it does get the signal, and i switched the AOD computer with an A9L to check and it did the same thing
I checked all the fuses and they seem fine, is there another fuse or relay somewhere i cant find?
Inertia switch is fine, i checked that.
I'm unsure if it did the same thing before the swap because the car was brought to me as a rolling chassis, i just did the motor/5-spd swap.
Anyone with any insight, it would be welcome. thanks.
Also : I just found out when the key goes back to the "on" position, and i have the fuel pump jumpered to run, it still doesn't stay running, so i guess the coil doesnt get any power either.
