RE: super charger
powerdyne blowers are so cheap b/c they're not high quality compared to the others. In this case you get what you pay for, and it would probably be better to buy a used vortech or procharger than a new powerdyne. Powerdynes are apparently known for eating impellers, among having other quality related problems... I think powerdyne is the only blower under 2g new, but i really think it would be a waste...

RE: super charger
Thats exactly due to poor design and materials they tend to have a very short life compared to the other brands. The bearings among other things prematurely wear out trashing the head unit which is why thier are so many "Factory Reconditioned" units for sale on ebay and other places that come with "rebuilt head units". As well alot of people have had problems trying to install them as thier pluming isnt that well thought out. Very crude and cheap system in my experience.
Vortech makes an S-trim kit that produces 5-6 psi thats sells for $1825.00 plus shipping. Its a basic system as that amount of boost does't require the BTM or FMU and supporting hardware that come with the larger kits producing more boost. I recommend it as a great entry level kit as the V-1 SC-trim blower can easily be upgraded at anytime to match the 8-10 psi kits. All that would be required would be, a larger injectors, smaller pulley, longer blower belt, possibly a larger MAF meter and a good tune, some of which you'll have probably upgraded to already anyhow. IMO its the best way to go even if 8-10 or more psi is your goal from the start as the larger kits sell you things you dont need to begin with, like the MSD BTM and FMU, which are obsolete in my eyes and control things better served by a tuned PCM.
