Default Possible Starter problem

Ive went to start my stang a few times and it makes a really scratchy and screechy noise. Like almost hurts your ears and it doesnt start. It is also startin to snow and its constantly below 0 now. I just removed the screen in my MAF if that is related to this. Is my starter going or what? It has only done it 3 times now n its started after, seems like once its been sittin. My mechanic didnt know off hand what it would be.

does it actually turn over? It could just be the shaft in the starter is getting stuck... Take it out (the starter) and use carb spray cleaner to clean it out. Be sure to let it dry completely (a couple of hours) put it back in and try it then.

No it doesnt it jus sounds like its tryin to turn it over but the engine doesnt fire or chug or nothing. So then i wait and try again after pushing the clutch in and out a bunch of times. Cause i was wonderin if my clutch cable was ****ed and the clutch wasnt engaging.

if it's trying to turn over, it's not the clutch switch. Car would be totaly dead if that was it. Can the car be jump started? Sounds like a battery if it's 'trying' to turn over but doesn't catch.

Check you battery cable connections (on the inside of the connector, where it contacts the battery posts), clean em up and reattach them back onto the battery. Make sure that they are tight and then see what happens.

those have a solenoid mounted on the firewall right? Jump the solenoid. Put the ignition in the 'on' position and take a screw driver with a plastic handle and short the two copper posts on teh solenoid mounted on the fire/fender wall. If it starts every time then you know you have to replace the solenoid. Just don't be touching the car when you do it!
