you have to have the wire from the positive side of the battery running on the one post of the silenoid then you have to have the wire that goes from the silenoid to the starter on the other post on the opposite side of the silenoid then you will have a small wire (called the exciter wire) that goes on either of the little post that are inbetween the 2 post

thanks hawke. i played around with the connections last night and the car started right up. much to my dismay i will probably have to take it to a shop. now when i attempt to start i get a clicking sound. no crank. possibly the starter. i think it is best if a pro looks at it instead of my swithing parts and later find there is an unknown problem burning thing out.
