Passing emissions
I live in VA where we have to get emissions. Right now im building a 331 stroker. when i put the motor in the car i want to get rid of my smog pump and all that crap. but if i put my stock h pipe on and run a high octane gas like a race gas and turn the timing down a bit would there be any possible way i could pass it? the guy at the machine shop says i could. anyone?

RE: Passing emissions
yeah i was thinking about doing that to but alot of places are cracking down on that. I know a couple people have gotten fired and the cops involved because of people doing that. so i dont know. if thats my last resort ill try and find a way.

RE: Passing emissions
I would just get a sticker from someone. One of my friends dad gives out alot of stickers. He tells the people to come to his shop w/ the car. They test it, it fails, and he gives them a sticker. Just because it makes it look like hes actually testing the car before he hands them out if anyone is watching ya know. I dont know how it is where you are but in NJ theres probally 15 shops in a 15 mile radius that will sell stickers. Some people charge close to $200 though!

RE: Passing emissions
No No No, it would be cheaper to get pulled over and given a ticket When I get my car started I will prob pay anywhere from 40-100. Witch isnt too bad I guess. Ive seen them really cheap before. So I hear... but you know how people lie.

RE: Passing emissions
They dont give out stickers for passing emmisions in Northern VA, they put the car on a dyno/emmission machine, and they electronically send the results back to DMV using your VIN and after you pass and pay the fee, they send you a year sticker that you apply to your tag. In VA you only get a windsheild sticker for a safety inspection.
