Default What clutch for 89 LX 5.0

MY Dad is looking far a new clutch for his 89 5.0 LX and I was wondering what You 5-speed guys recomend? I was looking at the Ford Racing King Cobra But I am not sure if His car has a 10 or a 10.5" clutch so I was not sure if it would work. He alwas complains about how hard the pedal pressure is so Less would be better. By the way the car is basically stock if that matters.

Thanks, For any help

you have a 10.5 clutch/press. plate. King Cobra is a great set up. I have use before. I believe its good to about 400hp. Always good to replace the input bearing inside the crankcrankshaft. Use a quality needle bearing. Can be a pain to remove. Also good time to up-grade the clutch quadrant. Let me know if your interested. I have a extra Ford Racing Quadrant and cable. Good luck!!

King corba is not bad I had one for afew years on my stock engine and they can hold to about 400 I heard also. but I went to a Center force Dual Friction which has a o ring around the splines on the pressure plate so regarding him not liking the hard petal and the effort to push the petal i would suggest the center force dual friction also. I went threw many cables with king corba the petal was way way too stiff. you want a better clutch all together and with less petal effort which to center force dual friction.

I know many buddys with stock and very very modded stangs and all swear by center force and it's holding with cars with more then 400 hp to the wheels and with NOS also.

well , i have heard that the king cobra was too soft.

yes it's a 10 1/2" clutch. and make sure you replace the cable when your doing it to get rid of the plastic quadrant that is stock.

i'm doing my clutch next weekend am going to use the motorsport HD (not king cobra)

He allready has replaced the clutch cable a quadrent with I think the UPR or BBK one with the firewall adjuster so that is done. Wheres a good place to look at the centerforce?

Thanks, Preston
