why cant AOD full throttle shift into OD?
If im going about 80mph or so and floor it my car downshifts into 3rd and is completely out of the powerband and it wont shift into OD until 5,900 rpm.
Today I floored it and it downshifted into 3rd so I eased of throttle so it upshifted into OD and I let it go for a sec and then I slowly floored it again
while I was in OD and it downshifted back to 3rd. Is this normal? anyway I can fix it? shift kit or something?

it won't shift at all into OD WOT, you need a manual valve body to make it do it.
doesn't do it cuz od band is super weak. and causes the tranny to break.

Because O/D is designed only for cruising and gas economy. It is not another gear but rather just "lock-up"
So when you tell your car to become performance like.....aka WOT....then O/D should not be engaged at all.

Yes, if you keep doing that you will weaken the transmission. Glad I could reinforce that. No shiftkits on the website, but they're available, just ask.

My overdrive is toasted and has been for a while now i can only use it to maintain speed, if i give it just a little to much gas the rpm's shoot up> with 4.10's i really need overdrive, why did they make it such a weak gear?

overall i dont think they designed it good for any car.... my has just been rebuilt and everytime i shift into od it clunks.... ive ridden in two other stangs that did the same.... not a very smotth tranny at all
