Fish......

RE: Fish......
Yea, I wont drive my car in the winter either. Its not even that I cant handle the sliding out and such, its just that I know I will want to have too much fun. And TOO MUCH fun can suddenly go bad and I dont want that to happen so I stay away from bad weather.

Fish tailing is fun when you intend on doing it, big suprise is when you dont mean to fish tail. Once at a stop light I accedently let of the clutch too fast and I did a doughnut in the middle of an intersection, scared the **** out of me.
The bigger rims and better tires helped a bit.

Black snake i know what you mean about spinning in an intersection, it scared the **** out of me also. First rain is always a bitch. Yesterday it started snowing while at school, it wasnt to fun drive home in, but there was no way in hell iwas leavin it at school. Like someone else said just respect your car and know its limits. I definetly do now after myown experiences.

I also have a vert. As the others have said, the secret to controlling the fish tailing lies in control of the right foot. It's not only the high torque the 5.0L produces early in the curve, but also the fact that you have a limited slip rear end that locks both rear wheels together under power. When I bought my ragtop, I didn't know it had the limited slip rear end. Found out about it when I left the house going on a fire call one evening. Left the driveway and dang near ended up in the neighbors yard (on dry road). With the limited slip rear, when it breaks loose, the entire rear end breaks loose, thus the fish tailing.
Since my ragtop now needs tires, I'm trying to find a good fairly inexpensive tire for wet weather. I say a tread patter I like on a SC Highway Patrol Camero. He was running Gatorbacks and he said that he had good wet performance. I'm not a real fan of Goodyear, but I may give those a try, if I find them in the right size.
