ok.... i was reading on how to install my own valve body and watchin a movie on it and i got to thinkin.... what actually makes the stock aod weak... and when built right, how much hp can it hold.... i see race overhaul kits at pa transmissions and will that make my tranny handle alot more hp? what is actually weak in the stock aod?

weak od band, weak drum, weak clutches, weak input shaft and slow low pressure shifts.

i know people haere that will rebuild it and know alot oabout trannies i just want to buy the parts myself cause it seems like they way evercharge everything...

yeah pretty much already hit all bad areas. also needs a big cooler when it's built right. heat , is the #1 killer of automatic transmissions

there is a kit from motorsport that uses the aode parts to improve some of the setbacks of an aod, while also increasing 1st and 2nd gear ratios.
they used to claim it would "bulletproof" a aod to mid 11's, but i had that done to my old aod , and it only lasted 6 moths on a hi 13 second car. but i blame that on the tranny shop.

i really want to do this first so i dont have to do it later........ i need to find a good kit or a good setuo so my tranny can hold alot of hp
