RE: Car not running right...
Im using the stock lifters, and stock rods. I adjusted it twice, Im preety sure they are ok but I am still a newbie.
Couple questions, where do I plug in the code reader? Where is the regulator installed? And will a Maf swap help out any?

your car should have the EEC-IV ford computer system. WIth this the data link connector should be under the hood close to the fenderwell or firewall. THey have either a black or grey plastic cover over them labeled EEC Test. IT is a 6 pin female connector along with a seperate single pin female connector. Does the check engine light come on at all when you run it as is now?

No the check engine light doesnt come on but I dont think it has ever worked. Im going to buy the OBD1 code reader and get the fuel regulator on thursday.
I get my MAF computer on Tuesday and will try to put it in as soon as I can.

Check your timing. My car was popping back into the intake and sucking gas like there was no tomorrow. I checked my TPS ( which was no where near spec's) and checked timing. The timing was set at 6 BTC. When I put it to 12 BTC the car ran great and my gas milage went up. If you go to Auto Zone they have the tester there and can go and pull any codes for you. Make sure that they do it with the key on and then with the car running. Don't let them bull **** you about not doing it with the car running. The tester does a check of all the sensors to make sure that they responed like that should.

Well popping is a lean sign and I bet money thats the problem, the AFPR is located on the very back left side of the fuel rails when you are looking at the engine from the front. I would hold off on the O2's for now until you pull some codes, they are expensive lil buggers but if you want to for some Preventative Maintenance go right ahead. Hopefully the stock pump has enough flow to get your fuerl pressure up, if not thats a real ****ty job dropping the tank by yourself. Just let me know if you need anything, I will get them MAF Conv instructions tonight 4 ya!

One more question on the regulator install. Where is it installed? Do I have to the upper intake again? I got the O2 sensors for free (Wink) And the Code reader is 25 bucks.
If the valves arent properly adjusted could it be that? I know for a fact that I didnt tighten them down too tight and I dont think they are loose.
