Default Tires - BFGoodrich Traction TA ???

I'm needing to look for new tires for the ragtop. She's all stock, automatic, and no drag racing. I'm looking for something reasonably priced with better wet traction than I have now (some no name that was on the car when I bought it used). I see from testing and reviews that the Traction TA's come in both H and V ratings, and seem to be rated pretty good. I'm thinking about the H rated version since I'm not running that fast anyway, and I'm thinking it may be slightly better on ride and noise, and I know it's a little better on price.

What experience do you guys & gals have with these?

no, i only use cheap hard tires on the street, and bolt on my mickey's when i need them.

but the "h" will also give you a lot more miles, "v"'s will wear out twice as quick.

Where do you get this from....the h and v rating is only the stiffness of the sidewall it has nothing to do with the "life" of the tire, i would look into copper also they have great tires for the money since you are looking more for a "touring" type tire instead of a performance directed tire...

Are they going to be for street use or just for the drag strip? I've heard the Nitto 555Rs have the best treadwear, i love mine ^_^

i use traction TA's on my 95gt and i love them. i've also got some Comp G's on my 88, and those have a Z rating...

i saw above that somebody said that H and V ratings were sidewall stiffness??? i'm pretty sure that's the speed rating, because that's what i was told by quite a few people, including some tire shop guys..

Traction TA's will not disappoint tho, good luck.

H and V are definitely speed ratings:

P - 93 MPH
Q - 99 MPH
S - 112 MPH
T - 118 MPH
U - 124 MPH
H - 130 MPH
V - 149 MPH
W - 168 MPH
Y - 186 MPH
Z - 149+ MPH

But as long as you're not going to be traveling at over the given speed for an extended period of time ull be ok. H is more than adequate for a street car...

Wow, Im now realizing about how clueless I am about tires... One Q, why do they make a W and a Y rating (168 & 186) if they make a Z rating (149+)?
