Default Grand National Swap

Ok so my cousin's roomate said his brother has a '92 5.0 with a Grand National engine swap. I'm buying a new '92 hatch soon, and he suggests doing it. I was wondering if this is possible, and if so, how much it would cost (roughly). I was pretty set on just having a 5.0, but he said a GN swap is alot faster, and he doesnt have too many problems with his (other than regular mechanical prblems).

Why would you want to do that? YOu know you can twin turbo a mustang engine and get WAY more power than the GN engine without half the hassle. Run a twin turbo on your stang and walk all over his buick luvin ***!

The cost of doing a swap like this is ridiculous. Not to mention the fact that most every mount, crossmember, and the driveshaft would need to be custom fabricated. A turboed 3.8L V6 vs. a turboed or supercharged 5.0L seems like a no brainer to me. Besides the fact youve already got the 5.0L in the car. Just get a novi supercharger system and be done with it.

Yea, that really makes no sense... taking a GN V6 instead of a 5.0 V8 thats already in the car. If you really want a GN motor, buy a GN. And the GN is not waaaaay faster. I gaurantee a 5.0 and a GN would be a pretty close race. I'm not familiar with the GN too much but I've been in one and they are not that fast. Please just take your 5.0, throw a blower w/ 4:10's and you will be happy.

Don't sell a GN short... They can be made with very little effort to run in the 10s.... THey are quick... BUT COST ALOT!!! Not worth the swap in a mustang. I once saw a gn that could tote the front tires and turn a 10sec lap, and it sounded stock.. quiet as hell. I have a 84 T-Type. same thing as a GN.... Cept I scraped the 3.8 and droped a 300hp 327 in it... That motors out now and installed in a impala. and I got a 500hp 355 goin back in the GN.. Did i mention I was a chevy guy too?? lol.. BUT please don't try to swap a GN motor in a stang... They are VERY expensive.. With the price of a good running GN motor you can buy another nice mustang lol. No ****....

its a good motor but isnt worth the hassle. stock vs stock with just minor bolt ons a fox is faster

with about only 2gs in a Turbo Regal you run 11s roughly

same thing with a fox. hell for 500 bucks you could do the same in a fox[notch]

wow, is this person retarded? i mean seriously? you could put an old 351w in the stang for less, and it would fly. no hassle either. or you could just rig up the 5.0 with some parts and make it *****-to-the-wall fast. get an old 4-eyed coupe, and you would friggin blow most anything off with a blower on the 5.0.

HEY HEY NOW!!!!!!! THERE is nothin wrong with a little hot rodding, thats what its all about!!.. This is just not a practical use for a GN motor.. Now if he already had the GN motor, and a mustang body... And they were goin to waist, I'd say what the hell and build it. But don't throw down like that... alteast he is into cars...
