Default Rear Main Seal leak

My mechanic said I had one, although I never see oil disappearing or spots on the driveway, I did notice the bottom of the trans is a little wet, anyways what does it usually run to replace the rear main seal?? Just wondering,</P>

PS. THIS SUCKS, I WAS JUST ABOUT TO GET MY TRICKFLOW INTAKE, AND SPRINGS!!!</P>

</P>

Also, I need to order a EGR down tube, becuase mine is cracked, where can I order one online cheap?</P><edited><editID>VicsGT</editID><editDate>37995.740150463</editDate></edited>

Rear main seal leak is a common problem. Nothing to worry about. I use synthetic oil so it runs a little more, but unless its flowing out, just refil and check the oil levels.

I was thinking it couldnt be that bad either, but they said that it is probably soaking my clutch which will cut its life in half. I would rather wait on it due to being out of work and kinda broke, but if it has the sligtest chance of messing something up badly then I will just grinn and bear it.

It sounds like it is just starting to leak. Mine does the same thing. </P>

When it leaks you will see a puddle under your car after you shut it down </P>

I would wait if you don't have the money. it could be around $300 </P>

Eventualy it will soak your clutch but if it isn't slipping its not that bad </P>

Hold out a little <IMG src=smileys/smiley1.gif border="0"></P>

My clutch isnt slipping, how long do you think I could hold out without any adverse affects? I also dont wanna do it now becuase they said that putting in a new clutch wouldnt cost anymore in labor, so I wanna do both at once, but i dont have cash for clutch yet. My stoock one is still kicking a$$. I was thinking mabye I could hold out till summer on the main seal, but they are telling me to take it easy on the car till I get it done, and I plan on going down to the track when it opens back up. </P>

anyone on the EGR question?</P>

Dont wory about it you can still beat on it.</P>

From the sounds of it, if you don't see a puddle its not that bad </P>

the worst that will happen is the clutch goes so start saving and wait till itreally starts to leak the mechanic just wants the jobnow. <IMG src=smileys/smiley1.gif border="0"> </P>

I figured mabye that was it, but they are gonna get my money either way, becuase they are going to be putting a TV/DVD system in the pass. side dash (eventually) so I told them that if I do the main seal that is just gonna put off the custom work they are gonna do and they said that I should still do the seal. I am gonna wait for now and hopefully something will come</P>
