Default Best sounding flowing exhaust

Flowmaster has a new 3" exhaust system they say it gave one of there customers an increase of 36hp on a 331ci!
MAC systems are good and cheap, they too have a 3" exhaust for $340.

i wouldnt go with the 3" unless you got some serious cubes.. a 2.5 system is ideal.

WHAT??? 3" would give him any backpressure. Especialy on a mostly stock motor. s**t a motor pumping out 500 hp only needs a 2.5". 3" whould hurt his performance very noticably to.<IMG src=smileys/smiley29.gif border="0"></P><edited><editID>BLKSTANG9879</editID><editDate>37996.716400463</editDate></edited>

blckstang, your contradicting yourself. first you said, "he needs back pressure", but then you say "the 3 inchwouldhurt his performance"....you must not understand how exhaust works very well....the 3" would hurt his performance, because it being the diameter it is, with his hp, the exhaust gas velocity wouldbe toslowwhen entering the mufflers, and would create more back pressure, as opposed to a 2 1/4 or 2.5, which would have more velocity when entering/traveling throughthe mufflers. its kind of like putting aftermarket heads on your NA car, and getting big cc like 205, and losing hp due to the loss of air velocity. <edited><editID>100th96cobra</editID><editDate>37996.7502430556</editDate></edited>

dude, what you talking about a 3" will hurt performance and have less backpressure. installing a 2.25 will cause backpressure and willcreate torque. a 3"will free up high end but will lose torque.
