over in cali they have to watch out for highway checks. i have heard. where they have the sniffer on the side fo the road. and when it goes off youll get it. and as far as a 306 if BUILT RIGHT cylinder heads,cam, intake, and so on. look into the articles and featured cars. some of those rides are in the 11s+. just like you said before. you got to know how to TUNE!!!!!. yes it is easier to build astroker to make more power. but you can deff. get some nice power out of a 306. just the same as a 350 is to a 355 in the chevy crowd. its all in the builder...

I'd like to avoid the headache of emissions andleaning to a 302 Stroker engine with 275hp. There are 2 kits below DROP IN MOTOR and LONG-BLOCK spec and pricedoes it seem reasonable?</P>

$5k for factory heads? blah
$2.5k for a replacement engine isn't too bad, although you might be able to do better. My friend got a rebuilt 318 for his truck for about $1300. Just scavenge the accessories, intake, and be done.
