in washington it's just over $100 for a no-seatbelt ticket. And they've made it a primary offense, so cops can pull you over for it.

I don't agree that government should be butting into our business so much, but then again there are still people who let their 2-3 year old kids climb all over the inside of their Pintos while driving down the freeway. If those people aren't smart enough to safely transport their kids, then they need to be reminded.

And how can it cost me money? Let's say you get in a wreck and get thrown through your windshield. Insurance is going to have to pick up the tab for your medical bills. True, you would have been injured with your seatbelt on, but most likely it wouldn't have been as severe. ALL of us pick up the tab for insurance claims.

I know right. You can't trust anyone down there. But at least they don't have a crazy seatbelt law.

Sealt belt usage is a subject that is very dear to me

Two years ago my wife fell asleep behind the wheel and went off the highway. When the vehiclewent off the roadshe was thrust into the steering wheel and then out the drivers door (approximately 80 feet from the final resting spot of the vehicle). She passed away from cardiac arrest from wounds sustained.Basically speaking her heart was bruised so bad that it went into arrest. Her seat belt would have saved her, but like most young adults she felt it was "the man" trying to tell her how to live. Now i have to explain to our daughter (when shes older) where her mother is. Bottom line seatbelts save lives.

Those that argue that "its my choice". Think about the time, money and effort it takes to stabilized a patient that is in my wifes condition as opposed to a patient that had a similar accident but only sustained fractures and bruising.

Sorry to sound off like a public service announcement, but if you have ever lost someone you will know how i feel.

sorry dude, how old is your daughter??

i was brought up wearing seatbelts and it is a habbit for me now. and they are not uncomfortable to me at all.

and a question for you who dont wear your seatbelt, how do you drive fast?? dont the g-forces pretty much throw you out of the seat?? and it must be pretty hard to steer when you are sliding around. seatbelts save lives, period. and with how many of you drive you will get into an accident sometime. and if you are wearing a seatbelt you might walk away. if you dont, you could die. and i still dont understand why you wouldnt wear it. what is the advantage to not wearing one??
