Default How do I avoid tubbing?

I have a 91 Lx that I am about to convert to 5 lug. I want to purchase some of those Cobra R rims. Nothing to big 18" all around with 10" wides on the back and maybe 9" on the front. Can I do this without any modifications like tubbing out the wells? Or rolling the fenders? Or any structural changes. I don't want to go bigger than probaly 18", but how big and wide can I go? I have Apex lowering springs. I think they are only an inch and a half all the way around. I'm sure some of you guys have been here.

I have 18"s on my car and I have no problems at all. You will need to run a thin tire in the front but its all good.

Crazy I was just reading about your fuel leak and saw your rims and was about to ask you about them. How wide are your rims? The thin tires are they 35's. I dont know if this help you but I remmeber seeing a special fitting for your situation. You had to find the area and use a pipe cutter, then it was 2 pieces that tightened down on either end the bolted to eachother.

Yeah I got the fuel leak fixed now, but thanks. The rims are 18"/9.5 wide. With Nitto 35s all the way around.

Do you have lowering springs? If so how much? I cant have 35"s down here. There's pot holes every 5 feet.

No I have the stock springs for now. You can go 40s in the front but it will limit your truning a bit, you prolly going to have to cut a bit from the inner wheel well.

I have to go with 40's. What if I went with let say 8's on the front and 9.5 or 10 on the back. Do you think that would help? Or is it the height of the rim - 18"?

10" rim require the removal of the quad shock and sometimes some tail pipe adjusting

how does that affect the ride? I guess 9.5 would be the max without modifying or removing anyhting.

9" rim works nice but some cars you have to flip the quad shock
