8.8" questions

1) how much hp could a stock 8.8" handle with gears, a FRPP 31-spline carrier, and 31-spline Mosers ??

2) i was looking thru my Mustangs Unlimited catalog, and came across the girdle's.........what exactly do they do for you(besides giving you more fluid capacity) ?? and is anybody running a T/A girdle ?? i think theyre @ $150, and i was thinkin about gettin it......any opinions ?

RE: 8.8" questions

depends how your getting it to the ground....on cheater slicks you can get way more , especially if you keep launches around 3500-4k, a stocker can handle 400 or so.

on full slick, w/ 5 k launches w/ the upgrades....i would say about 500 hp.

RE: 8.8" questions

I think that if you re-welded all the welds and used a spool that it could be 600+.
With anything thats a non-spool, 500 or so.......
The girdels do help some too. in keeping the casaes from spreading....

the guy in the black stang in my video is pushing 450rwhp and cuts high 1.3's 60ft's on 28 spline moser's.

RE: 8.8" questions

i guess i would say its all in how hard you want to come off the line, but i would say with the set up that you are talking about it would take 500 or a little more, just buy a 9inch for a fox body

RE: 8.8" questions

dont reaon to get a 9'. one they weight more, rob hp and jsut plain ole worthless for a stang

8.8s are in the 8s so why go 9'?

an auto wont kill a rear like a stick will.
sticks shock the rears harder.

if you upgrade then your fine

crhis tuten the drag radial champ 05 runs the dyno at a shop in town cuts low 1.2's with 1100rwhp through a 8.8 rearend 33 or 35 spline spool set up.

Something else I should have added too. Reweld all the factory welds for the suspension brackets.
33 spline axle is about 20% stronger than 31, 35 sronger yet, maybe another 15%.
I think the ultimate set-up would be spool, 35 spline deal...

RE: 8.8" questions

ok. like i said, i will be gettin the Moser's for sure. and i have the gears and carrier SITTING in my closet(i need the gear installation kit).

for traction aids though, im thinking about gettin the "S-Box" from Wild Rides Racecars, or something like that........its in MM&FF and also 5.0&SF.......they have an ad with a REALLY hot girl in it.......but anyway, i was gonna do that, and get HPM upper/lower control arms.

now, for a street car, is a panhard bar worth the money ?? cuz, my car will be more street than strip, but, hopefully ill take it to a road course every now and then......not a lot, just, to see how it does, so, would it be worth the money ??

and the girdle...............anybody running a t/a girdle or any other brand that you might recommend ???? t/a had one, and right above it was Trickflow's girdle....

btw, thanks for the replies/opinions.
