exhaust should be longer than intake so you make sure you get all the gasses out of the combustion chamber forcleaner burning of the fuel. compcams is a good cam company <IMG src=smileys/smiley16.gif border="0">

I was looking at this cam from comp cams cause its the biggest cam i can use with my 9:1 compression... 35-226-3 at crane cams. </P>

But everything for the 5.0 is uniform... that cam i was looking at is 230/230 .512/.512 -- I was hoping to find something a little better than could fit my car.. (240/245 .542/.546) Or am I just a dumb ***? Please help me out im just trying to figure out these cams...</P>

Btw, Ive got 1.7 rr so Im kinda stumped on how ill find anything to clear except by getting 1.6 which i dont want to do</P>

I think I'd like to stay with comp cams, just cause I know they're reliable and agood "name" </P>

I think I'm getting the hang of the cam thing, numbers wise, but I for sure don't know how to calculate for clearance. I've got 1.7 RR's and will soon have AFR 185s. They;ve got the 2.02 and 1.6 exhaust and I don't know how to calculate for clearance and Id rather know its going to clear or change something before Ido the clay and turn over the engine.</P>

How can I juggle these numbers to make sure it clears? Ive got stock stroke and all that... </P>

milk..crower has been around for over 30 years...they are well made product..Iwould go this route as you can see the rpm range is awsum..
with 2.02 valves the pistons will need to be flycut

Haha, sounds good to me then </P>

Do you think I should get my stock pistons cut or since im going this far, replace them with pistons already with cuts? How much is the price difference with the two options.</P>

Instead of going through the piston notching, im thinking about going with the AFR 165s... Twisted Wedge are gonna ned the fly cutting so I think I should forget the 2.02s. </P>

How much trouble would the AFR 165s be with the 1.7s and the bigger cam?</P>

I think it would be worth the improvement over the GT-40s i have. Im not sure if ive got GT-40X or GT-40Y but either way the intake valve is 1.94 which is bigger than the AFRs anyway, and the exhaust valve is only slightly bigger.</P><edited><editID>Milky</editID><editDate>38001.9387847222</editDate></edited>

twisted wedge dont need fly-cut pistons <IMG src=smileys/smiley2.gif border="0">they need flat top pistons or their domed pistons. </P>
