Default no heat

the heat in my 86 has been acting up lately. i can let my car sit and warm up for a solid 15 minutes and when i come out its blowing somewhat warm air, but when i start to drive the air turns cool. no matter how long the car runs it just wont constantly blow hot air. anyone know what the problem might be?

is it cold where u live bc if ur thermostat is a 160 or something low like that u can let ur car warm up for an hour and it still wont blow hot air. if i were u, id change the thermostat first. then if that doesnt work move to the heater core. but thermos are like 5 dollars if not less.

I have the same problem but it doesn't happen all the time. Some days it blows cold, some days it blows warm. It never gets really warm like my other cars which can get so hot I can't take it. I have a 195* thermostat. Also when I give it gas accelerating or under load like going up a hill the air will stop blowing at the front vents and blow out the defroster. I'm not loosing coolant or anything either I don't know what the problem is.

you might want to check your vacum lines and see if you have a cracked one or a loose one cause it sound like your losing vacum to the switiching unit.
