I don't know where your from, but I'm sure there is a parts store (Kragens,Autozone) that can actually test your alternator for you. Just take it out and take it to them.
They can test it out of the car on a stand built for that. Here's the wiring diagram from the autozone site;
As you can see, there are 2 fusible links that could cause a problem. If you take the wires off of the alternator and the reconnect a charged battery, the yellow/white and black/orange wires should each have +12 volts to ground. If either one doesn't have 12 volts, that is your problem. The Light Green/Red wire goes to the voltage guage and the ignition switch.
Glad to help and glad you found it. However, if you're still just getting 12 volts when it's running the alternator is not charging. You should be getting around 14½ volts.
it was the alternator. and it was also causing the battery drain. it was shorting out. inside. but the engine is running better and every thing. thanx for the help.
