The T-5 Does not have Oil, Should have the Fluid changed though

I agree that the fuid should be changed, but technically the guys who gave you the advice weren't wrong. All manual trannys are designed to never have the fluid changed. That is why there is no dip stick. With an daily driven escort that isn't raced you would never have to change the fluid. I would personally do it anyways just to be on the safe side however.

well the clutch eventually needs replaced, so thats the time to change the gear oil in the trans

It might not have a specific time at which to change the fluid, but be smart and do it anyway. Use the quality stuff.

I got a new tranny last year, and the owner told me to come in next year and he change the tranny fluid again.
