I checked for arcing and didnt see anything.
i also removed the wire that was touching the header and put one of my friends of his stang on there and still got the noise.
Im going to check the header bolts today but im assuming its the lifter.
At idle it really doesnt click much but if u give it a little throttle it clicks pretty frequent.
My next day off is thursday and my buddy told me to bring it to his shop and we would tear into it then.

Also something else i noticed was that when i drove it the other night before the tapping issue the headers were glowing.
My buddy told me that usually happens when your getting too much air and it needs more fuel.
well im running the vortech with #30 injectors. hmmm i got some work to do.

definitly bring it to someone who has a wideband O2... if your headers are glowing... you have a fuel issue.

that can also explain your tapping or ticking noise.... can you say... detonation????

you didn't say all the other stuff like JD said....thats why I never send the money I'll go pick it up with cash in hand.....
try new header gaskets first, also I would not even let the car run if headers are glowing..this will make quick work of a piston getting a hole in it... due to lean conditions....

I did do cash in hand.
Drove like 4 hours to pick it up and tow it back.
Im pretty sure the tapping is lifter.I will have it at the shop thursday so we can look into the tapping issue a little more.
im getting ready to go out and check to see if the header bolts are tight.

If the headers are glowing, you are lean. Try a tune first to adjust AF ratio. If after tune to proper AF and headers still glow, the cam timing will need to be checked. The unfortuante thing about Dyno tuning is it does not tell you where the fuel is being burnt. With FI applications and long duration cams, you can blow some of the fuel mixture into the headers to be burned there, it will show up as burnt fuel for AF ratio, even though the cylinder is lean. I only point this out because you said the engine was fresh, meaning the cam was out and may have been timed wrong.

I mean no offence by this but why then did you buy the car? If you drove 4 hours there to get and did'nt like the way it looked you had no obligation to buy it. As far as ebay is concerned you could just say that the car was misrepresented in the original add.

even with the issues that i have with the car i still feel it is worth the $4000 that i spent for it.i could sell it locally today For atleast $5000 as is.I mostly got it as a project and i have mad love for stangs.Ever since i was little and my dad had a blue late 60's fastback i have been in aw over stangs.I love the appeal they have and love the sound of a strong running stang
The car sounded fine when the guy finally got it to start. And we drove in it and the motor was strong! The slight tapping didnt scare me away.I could part it out and make my money back just off the mods alone.the suspension work is really nice too.
