Default 408W

Hi, I am trying to figure out what I should install in a 94-95 mustang a 408W or a 429W. I will have around 13K to drop into the car and am looking for the best performance for the money. Sometime over the summer I will also probably install a turbo. Also the engine has to be fuel injected and the car will be used for street driving and a little racing. Thanks

351w stroked to a 427, with a turbo or a s/c run 12psi and you should make 750-800 rwhp

Sounds like you've got high expectations and little experience. To build a great motor of that size is gonna cost some $$$ that will eat up most, if not all of your budget. You are also going to have to beef the **** out of your driveline if you want it to last much more than the first time you get traction. That's several thousand more right there (new at least). Then you also need tires and brakes if you drive stupid and aren't fond of dying or trees. More to come...

And that's just for starters.

I'm not trying to discourage you and frankly, it could be hella cheaper, but you have got to be realistic.

I'd say focus on getting brakes, supspension, & drivetrain up to par first, or at least better. Also, start small with what seems to be your first engine

Wow thanks for spending all that time to compile all that information. It looks like you listed a lot more than I had so far looked into. I did find a complete 408W engine with forged internals for almost 8K which would leave around 3.5K for other performance upgrades like brakes, suspension, transmission, clutch, new rear tires, and drivetrain. I was going to spend the other 1.5K on a new CD player, two new seats, and a 6 point roll cage but I would only buy the first 2 if the interior sucked or it didn't have a CD player already. Thanks again.

P.S.- Happy New Year

Ok, sounds like you got things decently planned out. Good luck and keep in mind that the list I made is very general and many things won't work together.

its all up to u. if u want more low end torque (turbo wont do sh*t until it spools) then go 427. 408 would be better for revving higher, ie high end power

I really don't think $3.5k would handle all the up-grades needed to trans, rearend and all by the time any labor was included.
Around here roll bars go in for about $100 per point so there's $800 alone.
Wheels and tires for $1000....
Rearend could be $12-1400 easy.......
Maybe you need to re-think a little. Don't get me wrong, a Mustang that flat hauls can be built for $13k.......
