Default Ticking sound...

I've got a faint ticking sound that I only used to be able to hear when it was cold, now it makes it all the time. I dunno what would cause this in the rocker arms. It's pretty quiet, you can barely hear it. I know that the roller rockers will tick but I have never really noticed it before, or could I have a progressing problem here?

Check your headers. They loosen often and especially when they are new you want to check em once a week for about a month or so. They loosen up and then you start hearing the clicking. Go in there and make sure they are as tight as can be. If they loosen too much you can blow the gasket.

Yeah, I might just do that right now, good thing that I've got copper gaskets. It don't sound quite like an exhaust leak, but it might just be.

check your plugs. I know that sounds stupid but if they are loose then they will be bouncing in the hole and make a ticking sound. I thought that I had an exhuast leak but it was just as lose plug. I checked mine while the car was on and i put my had at the end of the spark plug wire and put a little bit of pressure to see if it bounced. Or if you want just put a wrench on them to make sure that they are tight. Also I had a bad vavle cover gasket that wasn't helping out either. but once I replaced the gaskets the noise went away.

Well, that's what my brother-in-law/mechanic told me, he said that it'll tick really loud like that, and then soon after it'll go out. I bought some Lucas injector cleaner and poured it in the gas tank hoping that the injector is just sticking. I guess we'll just have to see. Will a code reader throw a code for an injector going bad?

Well, I put the injector cleaner in, and it felt like it freed up some ponies, gettin up to speed on the interstate today was a breeze, so that eliminated the ticking constantly and now it only does it when the motor is cold. But I was also told that it could be a lifter going bad, never thought of that, i'm much rather pay for a set of lifters than an injector

Well sounds like that's what the problem is. How long until I should really start to worry, I'm not going to be able to do this tomorrow or the next week.
