Water Pump Problem
Guys, I need a bit of help please.
I replaced the water pump on my 88 GT 5.0 a couple of months back. I have since, also replaced literally everything having to do with my cooling system...Thermostat, radiator, all hoses, clutch fan, heater core..what fun.
I just finished my heater core replacement a week or so ago and still smell antifreeze. Well, I finally jacked up the care and crawled around underneath to take a look.
What I have found is that there is antifreeze leaking from the two bolts on the backside and bottom of my new water pump. Apparently enough for me to smell, but not enough to leave a drip on my garage floor. You can't get to these bolts without removing the water pump.
Does anyone have any ideas on this one? I know I could always remove the waterpump to get to those back bolt heads, but I'm just trying to understand whay they would be dripping in the first place.
I appreciate your input.

RE: Water Pump Problem
No you cant get to those two bolts with out taking the water pump off i just helped a friend yesterday fix his water pump from leaking and it sounds like its leaking at the same spot. You need to take the water pump back off and take the plate on the back off the water pump off and get a new gasket for it and use Black ATV on both sides of the gasket to seal the gasket to the water pump then get the gasket from the plate to the timing cover and use ATV on it too both side and make sure you put a good amount around the coolant holes to make sure its seals tight. this should fix your problem
