RE: 351?

u will need a new tranny because of ur increased power output. it doesnt have to be a brand new one, but it has to have a torque capacity large enough for your power output. rear end gears will not effect the torque capacity of the rear end, so u do not need to put them in. all rear end gears do is change the ratio of the rear end, either giving you more acceleration or top speed. really it depends most on the transmission you choose and what the final gear ratio is on it.

you do not have to change out the tranny, it depends on how you are going to drive the car, if you dont have the money to get the tranny put the stock t-5 back in it but dont try to power shift and stuff like that drive normal and it will be fine untill you get one. i do belive you want to get motor mounts for a vert also. gears like mkspeed said depends on the ratios in your tranny, but a 3.73 is good for the street.

i dont mean to hijack your thread but i was thinking on the same. would you have to get new headers and carb/plenium?

yes, u will need new headers and lower intake manifold (complete if going carburated)

all this info is in the 351 subsection of the special stangs section

RE: 351?

because to put a 351 in is a lot of work because most people want to keep their fuel injection, and then people say you have to do something with the computer which i still dont understand because the firing order of the 302 in are cars is the same as a 351. so im lost on that part still.

RE: 351?

Why cant you keep the fuel injection? I understand that it adds some money to the equation but it would be worth it.
