hey everyone i have a mechanical temp gauge and it decided not to work when i put it back it, it only half works it will not read any temp when you are driving but if you turn the car off and let it sit it starts to read temp, my question is can the sensor hit anythign or would that ground it out? i think it is hitting somethin. thanks

I believe a mech gauge only has a temp probe at the end which you should have screwed into the lower intake correct? maybe you do not have enough coolant in your system and you have air pockets...

It is just a simple thermometer with a remote bulb, it has a pressurized gas in it like a referigerant. When it gets heated it increases the pressure in the bulb causing the needle to move, it may have rubbed a small spot and leaked out the pressurized gas in that line or a bad kink in the line.

You could just get a cheap sunpro one from advanced autoparts. I have a mechanical oil pressure and temp gauges and they both read pretty accurately. Also you did install a T adapter so you can still use the ect?
