We ran a 17 psi pulley but only seen 13 psi on the gauge in street trim, it was intercooled and we have a EPEC to tune the motor with and that makes a huge diff.we also did it on a stock bottom end,all but the pistons and the rod bolts.and ran the car to 11.16 at 121 mph(best) in a full weight street car for almost 4 years till it let go.now it looks like this Hey but no tears here it ran great for a long time LOL.

when you hit the 525 plato you risk the block cracking in half ..also went going above 10 psi stock rod bolts can strech and spin a bearing, or lastly with stock retainers on the valve spring could drop a valve if using a 500 lift cam or more

If you have some boat anchors that look like the failed block pictures, I think many of us would like to know the details of those failures. It might not be a bad idea for someone to create a sticky of known failures so we can compare to what we have.

Sean Hyland says "At present, my recommendation is to limit use of the stock rods in engines of 450hp or less." Sean also talks about not going over 1opsi of boost saying that over that is more a race then street application. Since he's done the research I would guess he would know. Bottom line "The key is to have a calibration for the computer that is conservative enough to not detonate under poor fuel, heavy-load conditions". Enough said.......

yet the owner of Walker Dyno Tune has an 86 GT with Turbo making well over 600 HP for years on the stock block. At one time he was making ~ 800 RWHP on the same block when he had a larger Turbo on it. Makes you wonder how some of these can handle so much and some break. I guess it has to do with randomness of metal strength when you do castings. I am making > 600 hp with my 347, I sure hope it don't split in the middle.
