How much boost is too much??

RE: How much boost is too much??
when re-reading the thread i knew it looks familar. if u noticed they talked about various aspects water /methanol injection (lowers air temps) intercooler (lower air temps) and the higher octane allows for boost because the higher octane keeps you from having detenation.
if u have all of that and a aweseome tune i am sure the only limit ur going to have is the internals and the block

RE: How much boost is too much??
when the head is slightly lifted off the block
ORIGINAL: MildFiveOh
I did some digging here and found a few boost threads, but I'm looking for a bit better consensus here....
I'm finished up with most of the bolt-ons on the 5.0, and am now going with forced induction. Im running a stock bottom end, but it was pulled from an 89 Saleen at 25k miles, and since being transplanted has less than 30k. The only modifications aside from exterior items are a custom grind cam, ported and polished GT40's, crane 1.7's, and stainless 1.90 valves.
So, my question is, what would you all suggest is the redline for boost? I'm sure I can cruise around at 6, 8, maybe even 10 lbs. But we all know big boost=Big Power. Where do I start getting into dangerous ground, and in that area, what are the first parts to go?
Thanks,
Nolan

RE: How much boost is too much??
Does anyone know if 88 Mustang's have knock sensors in them? Monitoring the Timing, knock, and air/fuel ratio is about the only way I can think of to make sure you're good to go. Monitoring knock and air/fuel being the most important that I can think of.
Also wondering what the limits would be for a stock block and internals. Anyone know what comes with a KB as far as being able to tune it?
Oh, and I plan on buying some ARP's to slap on to keep the head down for my car
