3.73's will juts give it a faster "get-up-and-go" and it'll raise the rpm's up a little. it has nothing to do with the transmission

check the trans fluid... or change it.

my family has had a 1986 chevy van since it was brand new and it's always had tranny problems (took it to the shop like 5 times in 1 year) maybe the company fixed a problem then created a new one that needs to be fixed.

What kit did you use to rebuild it. and did you do it yourself?

i guess the only thing you can do is bring it back to the shop and see if they can find anything wrong with it... that is if you're not mechanically inclined

is it low or blackish?

there might not be anything wrong with it. if you got it rebiut to be almost a track tranny. then that could be your problem.

what does it shift at? (rpm's?)

wow that is not normal... is that when you are at full throttle?

blackish means it's worn out or old... just grime and crap that builds up in the fluid

you might wanna take it to a different shop and get them to take a look
