Default Stock with huffer, or mod

Decisions, decisions, decisions. I have an 86 GT currently completely stock. I have already purchased 3.55's for the rear, have plans to upgrade the exhaust and also have an MGW short throw shifter on its way. Cobra R rims to finish the exterior, now it's time to make a bit more power.

Now my dilema. Do I leave it stock and throw a supercharger with 6psi on it to give me that little boost, or do I go into the intake, etc.

The car is low miles, not sure if I'm better leaving the engine alone to keep it's original state (save for the blower) for that collector in the future, or throw caution to the wind and start replacing parts. The car will not be raced, rather be more of a daily driver. Would like to see close to 300hp, don't need more.

Thoughts?

If your going to stick that supercharger on I would suggest converting to mass air, which means you are going to have to change some original stuff. I also don't see these cars becoming collecter items any time soon.

Good point on the mass air. Any other items for me to keep in mind would be appreciated.

As far as collectors or not, if I'd known that '69 camaro I had in 1982 would be worth more than the $2500 bucks I got for it back then.... Don't want to give up on these fox bodies like I did that camaro.

yea your right about that...i am planning on keeping my car until it becomes a collector. my dad had a badass chevelle when he was younger and now he thinks back and says i wish i would have kept that car and gave it to you. but he didnt know a 1500$ car back then would be worth 5 times that much now. If you supercharge your car now with everything stock, all the bolt ons you do later will respond alot better than if it was the other way around.

I dunno. If you're sticking to the stock block for now, I would recommend a 100 horse nitrous shot. That way you have power when you want it and you can spend the extra money on some suspension mods in order to put that power to the ground rather than uber impressive burnouts. IMHO

HERE I GO A AGAIN --- I LIKE BLOWERS! IT'S THERE WHEN YOU NEED IT --NO MUSS NO FUSS. HOPE THIS DOESN'T OFFEND SOME PEOPLE. BOLT IT ON WITH MINOR CHANGES. FOR ABOUT 2500 OR LESS YOU GET ABOUT 60% MORE HORSE POWER DEPENDING ON THE APPLICATION. I HAVE A BASICALLY STOCK MOTOR AND THAT'S ONE OF MY GOALS.

150 hp NOS System - $657
Granatelli rear lower control arms - $200
FRPP Racing Springs - $145
BBK Caster/Camber kit - $190
Lakewood 50/50 struts/shocks - $43

All of that totals to $1235 to accomplish your goal of 300 hp and keep traction at half the price.

I would get the blower and a catback. THAN save up for your other mods (u/l manifold, cai, pulleys, tb, headers, mid pipe, etc.) But just remember that you have to convert it to MA though. But its def worth the money. You can also go suspension & nitrous like chord509 said. There are many different routes. Its all up to what you are looking for. But I dont consider 300hp on the button 300hp. When you said you have 300hp, your MOTOR should produce 300, not a bottle. Just my .02

Thanks all, great discussion.

I think I'm leaning towards the supercharger (sorry NOS guys).
