Default Transmission Question

My transmission is very notchy when the car is cold. Once it warms up it smoothes out a good bit, but is still notchy. I have an aftermarket clutch quadrant and cable, the pedal has about an inch of freeplay in it. Any help is appreciated.

sounds like the cable is out of adjustement. you shouldn't have any play in the pedal.

no 86gt, you should have some free play, you should be able to use your hand with a light touch and feel where your clutch cable grabs. but emphasize on "notchy" to me notchy can be a number of thinks explain what your trans is doing

It goes into gear, but the effort is pretty high when it's cold. I've always read that 1-1 1/2" of freeplay is recommended. Also, if I try to shift fast at high RPMs it grinds. I'm thinking it might be the syncros.
