1989 Mustang 5.0L No Start Car Trouble
I have a 89 Mustang 5.0L and it runs great but every once and awhile, when I stop to get gas I turn it off and then pump the gas and then get in the car and it will just keep turnin over and will not start. Last time it did this we took off the destributer cap and checked it and moved it alittle and checked the wires. After about 20min later after in would not start it started right up like nothin happened. I don't know what to do. It is stalled out right now at a Gas Station and I have it pulled to the side at the Gas Station. It is doing the same thing. I know it is not the fuel pump because I hear it click on and i smell fuel. It keeps on turning over but it just will not start to run. I don't know what the heck is going on with it. My friend said his friend had like a 86 or 87 Camaro that did the same thing.
Well if you know anything or know someone that could help it would really help me out right now. Thank You so much Paul |

sounds like the ignition module (TFI) is going bad
its on the side of your dizzy |
RE: 1989 Mustang 5.0L No Start Car Trouble
Wheres the TFI? Maybe I can shake it around or clean it up and it will run untill I get a new one. Is it expensive?
Thanks Nick |

could be that, but it sounds like timing is to far advanced, retarted the timing a little make it 12 with the spout out and see if it happens again.

ORIGINAL: One Nasty Saleen Wheres the TFI? Maybe I can shake it around or clean it up and it will run untill I get a new one. Is it expensive? Thanks Nick i think TFI's cost about $30 or $40, anyone know exact price?? and if its bad theres no way to put a band aid on it till you get a new one |
RE: 1989 Mustang 5.0L No Start Car Trouble
LOL get er done, thats great, anyway if i was you i would check timing first, it does not cost anything if you have a timing light, if you dont you need to buy one. then see it you need the ignition module.

RE: 1989 Mustang 5.0L No Start Car Trouble
^^^^it's either that or your magnetic pickup. mine did the same thing i'd drive it for awhile and it's it fine shut it off go back to start it and nothing.
i have a brand new msd tfi if you want a better one. it's alot cheaper in the long run to get a new distributor. $60 bucks with core. |
