Default Tachometer Install

Okay...i installed the tach, and it works, but there's a discrepency between that and my stock indash tach... is this normal? also, the shift light doesn't work at the rpm i set for it to come on. I set it for about 4000 just to test and the needle came to 4, and it just seemed like there was a rev limiter there, and it wouldn't go past 4000, but my stock tach went to like 5...can anyone tell me what to do? my main concern is the shift light though...thanks

one of the main reasons to buy an aftermarket tach is because the stockers arent accurate. it is normal for there to be a differance in the readings. that just shows you how far off your rpms really were!! and the "shift light" is the rev limiter. dont look at the dash tach anymore, it is wrong!!</P>

Its true ford tachs notoriously inaccurate but they are consistent and thats what matters. But yes since you have an aftermarket tach now do not pay any attention to the stock tach.

Okay...but the shift light doesn't come on at all, even though i've set it to come on at 4000rpm. Everything is wired up right. Is there something else i have to do to get the shift light to work or is it just faulty?
