Default How do I clean dull/foggy headlights

I know this is a common problem amoung stangs so I've been searching for articles with no luck. My foglights are foggy or yellow looking. I bought some compound plastic cleaner and buffed some of the grim from the outside casing of the headlight, but there's still a lot more on the inside. I've been told that I can separate the front cover or lens to clean the inside but I was also told to be careful as to not mess up the seal. I see no way to do this without prying the headlight a part. Any suggestions?

Hi, I am not shure about taking them apart but for buffing the outside get the Mothers Ball, it runs a bout $25.00 and installs on the end of a drill. It is like a red sponge ball and it works great. Also shines up Aluminum real nice.

Good luck,
Darrin

Considering each headlight runs between $150 and $200 I think Ill try the Mothers Ball instead of buying new ones. For some reason Cobra head lights are different and more expensive than any others. Thanks for the info.

a friend of mine bought some nice headlights off ebay for under $100 for the set....they look much much better than the stock ones....I would take a look....the online stores have good deals there! PLus once they get yellowed like that they tend to go back to yellow shortly after cleaning them anyway....may be time for new ones.

mother's aluminum polish does wonders...it's 5 bucks and just use some elbow grease, forget the ball

i read somewhere that brake fluid an a little rubbing will clean them. make sure you wipe the excess completely off. never tried it though.
