my new '90 LX, i cant tell if its a high output 5.0 or not. i know what the difference is between them both but how would i be able to find out with the plate missing on the mainfold?

Its a HO, GT or not, its a HO.

Gt's and LX's alike both came with HO's if its a 5.0...if your still unsure...you could always pull the upper and lower intake off....and pull out a lifter and see if it has a roller on the end! lol

if your firing order is 13726548 than it is an HO

I dont think I have ever seen a 'Stang with a F.I. 5.0 that wasn't a H.O.

like wut spudz said, every 5.0 mustang was a 5.0 HO, why would they put a weaker version of a motor into a muscle car silly?

my friend put a non h o 5.0 motor in a mustang, put a cam , intake,headers & etc, sold it later & did not disclose that it had a non ho motor. i bet other mustangs have non ho motors in them.

there is a version of the 5.0 that isnt H.O! my first mustang was a non H.O, an '87 gt. performance wise, there isnt much of a difference. do you think it has something to do with the different hp configurations... as in havent ya'll noticed that the '87 -'89's made 225 hp and the '90 to '93's made 215 and 205! it might even go up to the '94 and '95 5.0's as well?

87-92 were rated at 225 hp, the 93 was rated lower for emissions reasons,
the only thing that makes it a HO motor is the cam. it uses the 351w firing order.
