Default motor break in questions...

ok back when i was into chevy's, i was browsing the thirdgen.org forums, and found a post talking about new motors and break in procedures. There was a picture of a motor with a roots blower, fully race prepped, BUT it had exhaust manifolds on it, like stock exhaust manifolds. i asked why there wasnt headers on such a sick motor, and they told me it was for break in purposes. has anyone ever heard of this? or is this just a load of ****?

Most likely a load of crap. They probably said that to cover something else(ran out of money, headers not available at time of pic, etc.)

yea? you think so? hmmm, it KINDA made sense, i heard of using restrictive exhaust to allow for proper valve seating, and cam break in, but i was never possitive on what the extend of it was.... anyone else have any thoughts on this?

Any engine builder worth his salt will have thoroughly lapped all the valves, that's not an issue.

Also, if it has a big cam, it will typically be broken in with lighter springs and lower ratio rockers.
