Default Thinking about getting a new

I'm thinking about getting a new T-5 transmission for my stang. I was thinking about getting the FMS T-5 Z. Is that a good trans to use? I did want to get a T 56 or a Tremec 500 but I want to rebuild my motor and don't want to spend a lot of money on a trans right now. My stock T 5 has over 200k on it and needs to be laid to rest. I know that some of you are going to ask what I plan on making for hp. Well for right now I would like to make about 300 or so. It's going to be driven daily and more than likely not going to the strip (ok maybe a couple of times).

if hp is gonna be below about 450 hp.....it's a great trans. especially if you have 4.10's

you can get it delivered for about $1150

Hey nitrous_bob, where can I find that trans at? I was on summit was for 1149 minus the shipping. I asked ford if they priced matched but they said that they it would cost the same after shipping which it doesn't because the lowest that they will go is 1300. I was going to ask my friends dad if I could use his employee discounts but don't want to ask him. I don't know if goes for part or just cars. I might ask put I have to work up the nerve.

If you r goiing to build your engine I'm thinking you want to put some big numers to thewheels. If that's the case get a decent trans capable of handelingthe power you r planing on putting down and @ the sme time reliable. Other than that all you'r doing is pissing on the wind. That's my .02 cents.

I was thinking of getting a rebuilt T 5 but I don't know if I would be getting what I they say i'm getting. Theres this place in the 5.0 mag that has up graded cobra trans for like 799. I don't want to get ripped off and get one that isn't as good or what ever. The place is Astro performance warehouse. They have a super alloy that holds 450 hp. Now is that true or just bs? D&D performance also has one and this other place called pro motion performance powertrain. Who's done business with any of these places and why?

I do plan on rebuilding the motor. It has just over 200k I don't plan on going to radical with the rebuild. Of course i'm going to get a good pistons, cam with a good bottom end. Later on i plan on putting heads and an intake. Later, later on i might put a supercharger on. this will take me about 2 years to get done because I'm in the navy and don't have another car to drive when this one is down. and the only time that I can get work done to it is when I'm out to sea plus I need to save as much as I can for a paint job too.
