From what I've read, the GT40 has an advantage up to about 3k rpm, but just slightly (like 5-6hp on a 360 hp car); I had the exact numbers, but someone at work stole/threw away my January 5.0 Mustang magazine, and I'm pretty sure that month had 5-6 different intakes on a 347, just to see how they did. I think the BBK SSI and the either Edlebrock or Trickflow, were in their own catagory, with the BBK topping those by a few hp. I think around the 6000rpm mark, the BBK was above the GT40 by something like 35-45 hp. Not that many people see those numbers all the time, but when you are racing, you do and that is where you don't want your intake to choke.

Surprisingly, the stock intake on a 5.0 is better than the GT40 up to 2800 or so rpm in hp and torque (by 1-2), so for fuel efficiency, the stock one is the best. Wait, I have a 5.0 V-8, why am I talking about fuel efficiency?

I am wanting to do intake work to anyone have opinions on the Trickflow would be greatly appriciated, thats what i have been leaning towards. Isn't my Cobra intake better or equal to the GT-40 set?

What about a good port and polish on the GT40? I mean if I can get it for cheap and just do a little work on it then maybe its worth it. What do you guys think?

Thats about right around NJ. I almost got a 351W w/ trans (trash trans I know) already pulled for $450. Which I thought was pretty good IMO.

Anybody?? I'm going this weekend to the local junk yards to see about this intake and another set of heads that i can rebuild and port. So while Im at it I want to know if I should port and polish the upper and lower intake manifold.

i heard the bbk was junk. Cobra lower intake has the exact same numbers as the 96 explorers intake. some people say that the gt40 flows better than the actual cobra intake. but just not as pretty.
ORIGINAL: Predator

I'm still debating if I should go with the GT-40 intake or the new BBK SSI one. I know the GT-40 is one of the best around, and especially up to 3k or so, but the BBK one seems to be the best engineered one yet.

Just wondering if anyone has the BBK, because it runs somethign like $650 and a new GT-40 is $330 or so new; I know both are great intakes, but which is best in the long run?

Also, congratulations on your intake, I was fiddling with my stock one and it got me thinking about getting a new one...hence the question about the two.
