Help me build my combo...
I'm looking for a badass street h/c/i combo. I'm not really on a budget but i'd like it to be within reason. If i have to save up for a few weeks then I will do so. I have in mind the AFR 165 heads, trickflow intake, and e303 cam. I live in cali so it must pass smog. I've heard some good things about the RPM II intake. Anyone know any good emissions legal heads that are great for low end torque? This is my daily driver and it will be seeing the track on occassion. For now I'm looking for a streetable combo with loads of low end torque. Any advice would be appreciated...

RE: Help me build my combo...
Those manifolds like rpm2, and the systemax2 are all for higher reving motors or track cars, those manifolds will make more power up top end while sacrificing it for low end torque...Stick with a manifold that has a range of idle-5500 or idle to 6000rpm for that lowend Torque your looking for, you will loose the low end torque for up top end HP with those manifolds. As for heads you could get a set of trickflow that pass smog, they are also good heads, but AFRs will probally be your best bet also. your doing the same combo as me, you also have about the same mods done to your car, Me Im going with AFR 165, Edelbrock RPM, and I already have a crane cam in there now with 1.7 RR's. the motor was recently rebuilt 306 all forged 9-1 compression, Im hoping to make 320- or more to the wheels with that setup. MAN those cali emissions are going to hurt the potential, For example your limiting your self from making huge power by not being able to have huge valves, high lift cam, no smog pumps, no egr shiz, the emissions are very strict, even though all the parts are smog leagal, the stock 5.0 has a hard engough time passing to begin with plus all the Hi-perf parts, it will make it really hard to pass smog, shoot my car with its mods barley passed, and thats with new cats...

I believe that they make a set of 185's that are smog legal (not positive). You should try to go with that, a Edelbrock RPM II (1,500-7,000), and call up comp and see what kind of cams they have in mind for you. Thats what I would do. Just my .02.

go with a better cam from like comp cams or crane cams the best thing to do is call comp cams and tell them your mods and they can tell you a cam for your combo
