Default GT-40 Engine?

Hey I posted before I can get this engine from a 99 explorer for $625, but is it really a GT-40/GT-40P? I think it is a GT-40P by the headers. What kind of gains is from GT-40P? Is it better or worse than gt-40?

i don't think it's worth it.....

most guys will say the p is better, but from mods of my buddies cars, i like real gt40 way better.

the intake is a huge diff over a cobra / explorer.

i think you would see about a 20-30 hp gain w/ the p motor.

20-30 HP is hardly worth it, unless the motor you have now it totally shot.

well my engine is shot and needs a rebuild..... Only 20-30hp? With GT-40p heads and intake? And are you sure that it is a GT-40P?

I'd expect way more gains than that with either of them, atliest more than 30. I'm sure that the intake alone is worth 15, that means that the heads are only worth another 15 hp? I dissagree.

If you want to know whether or not they are P head they should have a stamp on them that say GTP. I forgot what side its on but I will check for you tomorrow. It might for all I remember be on both sides.

With a full compliment of bolt on's and a stock shortblock with P heads and Explorer intake my old notch ran 12.5's on BFG DR's. That car made around 265-270 rwhp with those parts. So, if you're looking to make signigicantly more than that then I wouldn't bother with it. If you're ok with those numbers than it's a good deal.
