Default BIG PROBLEM!

well i took off my upper intake and put it back on and now i crank it up and it just goes straight to redline and i have to shut it off does any one know whats wrong i guessing its the vaccuum lines iam i right?

That could be possible, but Ive never seen a vacuum line make it go straight to redline. Ive seen them make a motor jump a thousand or fifteenhundred rpm's but not that much. I would like to know the answer to this one also...

it sounds like a vaccum leak, i dont know much about the 86 does that have the same intake as a 87? do you have all the vaccum lines hooked up?

i was thinking that i mixed up some lines and hooked the cruise control line up cuz i disconnected the other linkage that attaches to the throttle and i won't start up then

thought the engine was dead but found out that there was something clogging my exhaust pipe took h-pipe off and runs great expect for the whole idling problem ive got

You mention the cruise control, if it's hooked up such that it pulls a wide open throttle, that could do what you're describing. A vacuum leak that large should shut the engine down. Along with air, you've got to have fuel, and a vacuum leak won't give any extra fuel. Check your linkage and make sure you didn't get the throttle in a bind in some way when you went back together. It really sounds like the throttle if being opened. Also, if the throttle linkage looks good, disconnect the cruise from the throttle so that it cannot open it, and then try it.
