Default Equal or unequal...that is the question.

Im looking into shorty headers, and I am just wondering which would be better. Equals or unequals?

it all depends the difference is very small but unequal will give you more torque than equal and equal will give you more HP but maybe 1 or 2.

but also equal is a b!tch to put in since they extend further out and there's not really alot of room for them. if you go for equal just check your wires and crap so they don't melt.

Unequeals are the ones you have now and will bolt up straight with your Mid pipe. Equals you will have to modify to make it fit.

I heard that unequal headers make the car sound a lil louder.

could it have anything to do with the size of the collector on aftermarket manifolds?

The equals are basically a compromise with the low cost of the unequals and the higher hp gains (not much at all unless you are running a modified engine) that the full lengths give you. When I put my equals in, we had to jack up the engine to fit the passanger side headers on, but other than that, it was a tight fit, but nothing too bad. They hooked up to the exhaust like the old ones did too.

I don't recconmd getting the equal lengths, they only make 1 or 2 hp more and are harder to put in. The only time to go with them is if you are racing in class and thats all they allow.
