RE: STRANDED/BLOWN HEADGASKET/BAD GAS???
well here is what i have found in my experience if u dont have water in oil then it might be a warped head thats what was wrong with my ranger but it is weird before i replaced the motor in it it woul push about 2 gallons of coolant out now if u fill it up all the way it will still push out a gallon come to find out a bad heater core caused the whole thing

^^^^^^^^^thanks birdie ...i thought about that too...chances are if something mechanical pistons/block it probably wouldn't start or sound ok..just when the thermostat opens up that's when all hell breaks loose.

maybe not i bought my ranger it ran great never got hot or anything drove for a bout a month and started smoking some but wasnt low on coolant and was still running fine then it started missing cutting out and acting like it had no power what so ever sure enough it was a warped head i thought it was a head gasket at first but didnt know took itto my buddy that owns a gararge he ran some test and said it was the heads and that he thought they had been that way a long time just never got drove long enough to heat them up hot enough to leak like a son of gun

Just start pulling parts off and see what you find. You might get lucky and just find out it is just a foulded spark plug. Or intake manifold gasket.
