Default Why does it take so long for my car to start?

I'm currently giving my 94 Cobra a tune-up. It has 112,000 miles on it. So far I've changed the plugs and wires, the fuel filter, air filter, (K&N...currently the only mod I have), oil change and flushed out the coolant system. The problem I'm having is that when I start the car the engine turns over for about 2 to 3 seconds before firing. Is this normal? It's been so long since I had my fox that I don't remember if it did this as well. I kow my 98 didn't, but I'm aware of the difference in iginition systems. Any thoughts?

Sounds like the fuel rail has looses it's pressure after youv'e shut it off and it's taking that long to pressurize. Try starting it right after your done driving it or running it. Try this also, turn your key on 2-3 times but don't start it. Just turn it to where all your lights are on and your buzzer or dingers are on on. Do this and then on like the 3-4 time go ahead and start it and see what happens.

it might also be your fuel pump going bad. Trying turning the key to the on position but not start the car and let the fuel pump prime the lines first then turn to start the car

Yea that's what I was saying that it's losing it's pressure. The pump is letting the pressure leak down. To where it's gotta repressurize the system and then starts.

I turned the key to the on position and waited about 3-4 seconds and then tried and it started sooner. I tried it again and it started almost immediately. Does this mean my pump is going out? Could this cause any problems while running? I also noticed than when I turn the key to the on position I hear a buzzing noise for a second or two...is this normal?

Another quesion that I had that I was reminded of when doing this test was that I have to have my clutch almost through the floor before the car will start...what does this mean?

Yes this is normal that's your fuel pump pressurizeing the system. I'd say it's your fuel pump leaking back or some call it leak down. It's suppose to hold.
