Default Is the price right

I am looking at a 1990 Mustang GT and its all totally stock besides the cobra polished rims and new goodyear eagles which look awsome on the car and the cats tooken off. The paint isn't the best its a little faded in some spots and the body is in fairly good shape there might be a little rust and maybe a couple a small dings in the doors. The interior looks good there was like 2 stains in the carpet and one small one in the passenger side seat. I haven't got to drive it yet but the guy that is selling it drives it everyday to work so im thinkin it cant run that bad it has 115,000+ miles on it. Does $3,000 sound good or bad i dont think the guy wants to go any lower. The guy said he wouldn't sell it to anyone else besides me so i dont have to worry about someone else buying it. Thanks for your help

go to this website. www.kbb.com. click on used car retail price, then in the sub menu click private. Then find the ford list, and click mustang, then the year (or it might be the other way around) then enter all the info in the next screen, and then click i think it's "quote". it'll tell you a good range in US dollars how much the car's worth. Give that a shot.

If its auto, it's worth around 2,800 so he's asking a little higher, but not too bad. if it's standard, it should be around 2,600 so, thats a ballpark figure.

I'm not sure where you are from, but if you are buying the car to race, then I would say thats a pretty good price. I buy them and sell them all the time, and where I'm from, book value really doesn't mean a thing. Everyone races around here, so mostly people are just looking for a starter car. $3000 would be a good starter price, but if you are not looking to race, then maybe you don't want to pay that. Just my opinion though, that 302 engine is not hurt at all with 115,000 miles.

Well this is my first car and yes i probably will take it down the track a few times. I live in erie,IL and theres dragstrip 12 miles away(Cordova Dragway Park). But most of the time i will just be driving it around to school and stuff. i all ready now what i want to put on the car it's just getting the money for all the parts.

I am looking at another car to its a 1989 LX 5.0 convertible it looks awsome on autotraders website and it has about the same amount of miles and looks like its in a lot better shape, but it cost a little more, $3,500 obo, hopefully i can talk him down to $3k. But it doesn't have the new rims, tires and white face guages.
