tach doesnt work!!!

tach doesnt work!!!
I hope you fellas can help me with this, I have an 86 5.0 and I am trying to wire up my stock rpm guage to my MSD 6a coil. I have wired the rpm guage wire directly into the back of the coil but it doesnt work, I am sure that I need a MSD tach adaptor but i am not sure which one to order from summit, Please help!

the msd 6a is not a coil...it's an ignition box that enhances spark output.
are you using the adapter to feed the box, or is it wired direct?
if you are using the harness.....you need to wire into the connector (i think it's the green wire) not the coil.

the green wire from the harness is wired directly into the back of the ignition box, that is why i think it is not working, i think i need a special kind of msd adaptor to make the tach work right.
