Well, if you Have EFI on your car already that helps with the cost. Intakes are considerably more (couple hundred or so). Plus the upgrading with the fuel injectors, throttle body, programming and such. Carb'd is not a bad thing, provided you're willing to learn how to tune a carb properly. I've seen dyno tests that show EFI and Carb'd application net the same HP at WOT, but EFI gets more part throttle power. If you want a specific parts list I'll tell you what I'm planning - not that it's anything earth-shattering. Trick Flow Track Heat Intake and Trick Flow Twisted Twedge Heads on a 331 short block with low compression because I plan on supercharging it. 1 5/8" or 1 3/4" headers. I'll have to get a custom grind blower cam. Haven't decided completely on the valve trane yet. Probably Trick Flow for Roller Rockers. Of course there's a lot of other stuff - push rods, gaskets, etc. You should pick up some Mustang rags and look at the suppliers that advertise in them. You can get an idea of what's out there. $2500 will get youa pretty stout short block which you'll need for that kind of power. $5000 will get you a 500HP long block (331/347).

do you feel confident with tuning a carb??? if you feel that you could then definately go carb. it is much cheaper and easier to tune. tuning a carb isnt hard. there are some good books out there that you could pick up to learn about them and you would be fine to tune it yourself. <IMG src=smileys/smiley2.gif border="0">
