Default Made some progress...

Well my dad and I adjusted the TV cable and got the throttle cable back up to where it should be. Since I tightened up the throttle cable there is a huge SOTP difference, my 5.0 ain't so slow anymore . It shifts very smoothly now (except when I'm shifting at high RPMs) and it kicks down a gear or two under WOT. But I have determined that the OD band is shot. So now I'm trying to determine wether I want to just forget about the OD and leave the tranny as is right now and get 15 mpg one the interstate and have them do something else for me for my birthday, or replace the tranny. Hard decision, they said that if I just want to leave the tranny as is right now they'd pay for me to have 3.73s put in, but that's going to decrease my gas mileage without the OD. So anyways, I'm kinda venting and if anyone has any ideas for me, please let me know, i'm leaving within the next 30 minutes.

I would say use this as a message from the car gods to get a new tranny...
except get a 5 speed
It can't be much more expensive than an auto, and if the rents are willing to pay to get a new tranny just have them get you a manual-

It is though, figure you pay 500 for a T5 that's in good shape that's going to last me for a while, plus everything else (brand new clutch ETC.) it's going to come out to be like 700-800 bucks total. The time involved (neither my dad nor I have done an auto to manual swap and he holds a full time job and I hold a P/T job and go to high school), it would end up taking me a couple of weeks and I can't do that. The AOD for AOD swap is going to take me about a day, so the T5 is out of the question, plus if I can get a stall I'll be quicker than a T5 and gears are coming very soon.

Out of the hole you will be quicker..but from any type of roll..NO..I would do a good performance rebuild and go with atleast a 3000 stall..And ditch the 3.73's and get 4.10's

Yeah, but I'm on the interstate 24-7. 3.73s will work fine for me, I don't roll race.
